Walking & Wildlife Break

Running from Wednesday 8th to Wednesday 15th September 2010

Celebrate the Tomintoul & Glenlivet Walking Festival (www.tgwf.co.uk) as well as experiencing the area’s wildlife.This Break includes comfortable accommodation with Breakfast and Dinner each day – you can choose from a 2, 4 or 7 night Break. You’ll be able to join in with the Walking Festival Events, and the BWWC Team will be on hand to give you information about the best local wildlife watching sites: a great way to experience the best of the Highlands!

TOMINTOUL & GLENLIVET FESTIVAL WALKS:

Thursday 9th September

Walk 1: Sgor Gaoith, 1118m, Munro. A superb route with outstanding scenery - 6.5 hours.

Walk 2: Loch an Eilein and the Argyle Stone. A great walk, rugged landscape, remote and beautiful - 6.5 hours.

Friday 10th September

Walk 3: Corryhabbie Hill, 781mCorbett. From Glen Suie, steeped in history and great views - 6 hours.

Walk 4: Meall a’ Bhuachaille Range, 810m Corbett. Walk over three tops, see the ancient Caledonian forest and atmospheric lochans - 6 hours.

Saturday 11th September

Walk 5: Navigation Day. An opportunity to go into the hills to work on compass, mapping skills, GPS. With some gentle orienteering and micro-navigation -6 hours.

Walk 6: Glas Maol and Creag Leacach, 1068m and 987m, 2 Munros. Good tops and an interesting ridge. 6.5 hours.

Sunday 12th September

Walk 7: Ben A’an, 1171m, Munro. Retained from last year by popular demand, our flagship walk. One of Scotland’s great mountains.7.5 hours.

Walk 8: Geal Charn 821m Corbett and the Ailnack. Walk over Geal Charn and Geal Charn Beag and along the wild Ailnack. A great red deer area. 6 hours.

Monday 13th September

Walk 9: Loch A'an. Visit the remote Loch A’an via two corries, see the Shelter Stone, one of the best Cairngorm Walks. 6.5 hours.

Walk 10: The Distillery Walk. Enjoy an optional dram and a distillery tour. Walk the Speyside Way and ancient trails. 5 hours
